abstract = {Este estudio presenta una caracterización del contenido en columna de vapor de agua o agua precipitable (PWV) en 18 localizaciones de la Península Ibérica con 7 años de datos, obtenidos de sondeos, receptores GPS, y fotómetros solares. El PWV medio ha sido de 18.06 ± 2.62 mm. En general, el PWV es mayor en las costas, especialmente en la mediterránea, que en el interior. El PWV presenta un claro ciclo anual, con un mínimo en invierno, y un máximo hacia el final del verano. La amplitud media del ciclo es de 13.2 mm, y la razón entre el valor mensual máximo del verano y el mínimo del invierno es aproximadamente 2 en todos los emplazamientos. Las mayores amplitudes del ciclo se registran en la costa mediterránea y los más bajos en el interior. El ciclo anual del PWV sigue al de la temperatura, excepto por el mínimo relativo de PWV que tiene lugar en julio en los emplazamientos del suroeste.},

abstract = {At the end of September 2006 a Cimel sunphotometer was set up at Tamanrasset (Algeria) by the Izaña Atmospheric Research Center (AEMET) in collaboration with l’Office Nationale de la Météorologie (Algeria). This station was integrated in the AERONET network as a strategic site within the Global Atmospheric Watch (GAW) programme for its situation in the hearth of the Sahara, and, a priori, representative of pure desert dust, free of industrial activities. More than two years of aerosol measurements have been analyzed from October 2006 to January 2009. The mean aerosol optical depth (AOD) is 0.26±0.15 and the mean ?ngström Exponent (AE) is 0.45±0.20, evaluated from AERONET level 2 daily and monthly mean values. Both time series data show a clear seasonal cycle. A dry-cool season (fall and winter time) is characterized by low AOD and high AE values, and a wet-hot season (in spring-summer), with strong and frequent mineral dust storms, giving high AOD and low AE values, are observed at Tamanrasset. The spring-summer season is driven by a strong and thick continental boundary layer over Tamanrasset which has been analysed using the rawinsonde dataset. Both, AOD and AE values shows the behaviour of a station where desert mineral dust is the prevailing aerosol defining the characteristic of the site. However it is worthy to pointing out that a significant number of episodes with ?ngström exponent values around 1 together with AOD greater than 0.2 have been found, what suggests the presence of pollution derived aerosols. The Gobbi’s graphical-frameworks help us to discriminate this different aerosol types through the year and the HYSPLIT back trajectories are used to analyse the origin of the air masses arriving to Tamanrasset. Several problems have been found during this two year record of continuous measurements because of the difficulties regarding the instrument maintenance and the poor time-calibration process. On the one hand, the cloud screening became an extremely difficult task because the presence of heavy dust plumes, preferentially during the summertime, which were confused many times with clouds (resulting in underestimation of the AOD), and by the quasi permanent presence of cirrus clouds, associated to the subtropical jet stream, in wintertime, resulting in an overestimation of the AOD. On the other hand, around six months of data in 2008 did not achieve the level 2.0 in the AERONET database. A detailed and analysis of data shows a strong fictitious diurnal cycle within this six months dataset. The KCICLO method appears as a tool to be used to correct the calibration factor and recover this dataset.},

abstract = {The present work shows the main results of the analysis of AERONET inversion algorithm’s products of a sun-photometer installed at the Atmospheric Sounding Station “El Arenosillo”. This station belongs to INTA (Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aerosoespacial) and is located in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula (37.1N – 6.7W). The aim of this work is the study of the optical aerosol properties of a long data series (August 2002 – December 2005) that are products of the AERONET inversion algorithm: volume size distribution (VSD) and complex refractive index (REF), and a wide set of derived parameters: volume concentration (VolCon), asymmetry parameter (g), single scattering albedo (SSA), etc. Version 2 of the AERONET algorithm inversion is used here. A general statistic is carried out which includes the interannual monthly behaviour of the aerosol microphysical parameters. Aerosol volume concentration shows a good correlation with the aerosol optical depth (AOD) and also the fine mode volume fraction (Vf/Vt) with the alpha Ångström exponent (AE). A characterization of the VSD and derived parameters is performed depending on aerosol type. Optical properties will be analyzed only for cases of high AOD, because of the quality assured criteria of these parameters. These cases include desert dust, showing a scattering behaviour, and biomass burning aerosol, with an absorbing character.},

abstract = {The Atmospheric Optic Group of the Valladolid University (GOA-UVA) is working on the study of the atmospheric compounds based especially on optical methods. The use of different radiometers and espectroradiometers allows the measurement of direct magnitudes, like the direct, global or diffuse solar radiation, sky radiance, etc. From these measurements we obtain information (content, properties, etc.) about different atmospheric compounds, like ozone, water vapour or aerosols, based on the radiation-atmosphere interaction. From all the sites managed by the GOA-UVA the longest data series belongs to the “El Arenosillo” Atmospheric Sounding Station (ESAt) with a sun-photometer included in the AERONET-PHOTONS network, located in south-western of the Iberian Peninsula, working since February 2000. In this period seven photometers were used along the time, which were changed in base of the calibration standard of AERONET.},
